TWO FDI CE PROGRAMMES EASTERN EUROPE IN JUNE

More than 400 dentists from all over Serbia attended the XXIII Symposium of Dental Health Education in Serbia. Notable attendees include the Deputy Ministry of Health Care and Ministry of Health Care Advisors in Serbian Government, representative of National Health Care Insurance of Serbia, professors from medical and dental schools from University of Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis.
Community and social events include open discussion about prevention of oral diseases on three local and regional television and radio stations, a reception dinner by Mayor of Zaječar, visits to one of the oldest Roman settlements, the Roman Eparor Palace and a Gala dinner at the end of the symposium.
Dental professionals of Serbia had great pleasure to attend presentations from two marvelous speakers, Prof Göran Koch, FDI Programme Manager Eastern Europe, and Assc Prof Dr Ola Norderyd, both from Sweden. Their lectures and recommendations during the seminar and round-table discussion were highly accepted by Serbian regional dental officers, representatives of Serbian Ministry of Health and National Health Care Insurance as very important and very useful suggestions for improving dental health care service in Serbia.
Having in mind that Serbia is country in a transition period, including the transition of Dental Health Care Service, the Serbian Dental Association is thankful to the FDI CE programme and specifically to Prof Göran Koch, who took part together with representatives of the Serbian dental profession, Serbian Ministry of Health and National Health Care Insurance of Serbia in defining basic strategies for prevention of oral diseases in Serbia. Since Serbia needs all the help that it can get for the reorganisation of its Dental Health Care Service, it is looking forward for future assistance of FDI. Therefore we highly recommend more intensive collaboration in near future with the FDI and its CE Programme.

Seven hundred and fifty attendees participated in the CE programme sponsored by the FDI in Armenia. The CE programme was a part of the two-day Congress of International Armenian Dentists. Notable attendees to the congress included those from the National Assembly of Armenia, Ministries, Yerevan State Medical University, Private Medical Institute of Yerevan and also companies of foreign countries.
A series of events were organised for the congress, amongst which were a Welcome Dinner, a Gala Dinner and various sightseeing tours of historical Armenia. All the events were broadcasted by the Armenian central television channels. During the Congress, the Scientific-Practical Conference of Armenian Dental Association was held, which was highly appreciated by the participants. In addition, an exhibition and a hands-on course were held.
All the realised activities were evaluated highly and positively by the Armenian Dental Association. The Armenian Dental Association is very pleased with the presence of FDI and the European Regional Organisation.
