FDI & SWEDISH DENTAL ASSOCIATION PREPARE FOR THE 2008 CONGRESS

Now that the 2007 FDI Annual World Dental Congress is behind us, the FDI will begin concentrating its efforts on the 2008 congress in Stockholm, Sweden. The 2008 congress will take place from the 24 to 27 September at the Stockholm International Fairs & Congress Center.

The Swedish local organising
committee welcomes guests
at the Stockholm lunch in
Dubai to promote the 2008
congress.

Dr Roland Svensson, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee noted that Stockholm is a fantastic city that has a lot to offer. “Many Scandinavian dentists regularly join the FDI Congresses every year.” he said. “That is why Stockholm is the perfect place to host this appreciated international event for dentistry.”

The theme for the 2008 Scientific Programme is Pioneering Prevention. “It will reflect the tremendous advances in medical and dental science that have taken place in the last 15 years,” said Dr Burton Conrod, President of the FDI. ”Sweden is a world leader in preventive dentistry and we are proud to present an exciting and cutting edge scientific programme presenting the latest concepts in dental innovation and scientific methods in relation to this and other dental themes.”

In addition, the dental industry will also be in Stockholm to display their latest products and services at the World Dental Exhibition.

An attractive social programme is being planned to entertain guests during the evenings of the congress. Stockholm Night will be held at the Skansen, the oldest outdoor museum in the world, consisting of more than150 buildings representing various stages in Swedish history. The different houses will be open for guests to see traditional craftsmen at work, listen to music and watch a genuine folk-dance performance. Dinner will be served at the Restaurant Solliden, a venue with a magnificent view over the city.

Furthermore, the spectacular Vasa Museum will play host to the annual Gala Dinner. Vasa is Sweden’s largest, most prestigious warship that had a short-lived glory. It sank within Stockholm’s harbour shortly after her maiden voyage in 1628. The Vasa then spent the next 333 years on the bottom of the sea until she was raised from the water and turned into a museum.
