Abstract

Due to the increased use of rotary files instrumentation, more accidents of files breakage inside root canals start to show, making dealing with such cases a nightmare for dentists especially those that do not have the sufficient training or equipment to retrieve it.
One of the treatment protocols to deal with broken files is trying to bypass it in order to be able to reach deeper canal areas apically to clean, disinfect, and 3D obturate. But, bypassing broken file may not be as easy as it looks, and applying some procedures will increase the possibility for bypass with a safe mode.
On the other hand, dentists must be aware of the cases that are not indicated for such treatment protocol and shift for file removal to achieve more predictable results.
This presentation will highlight the indications and contraindications, special protocol, for safe broken file bypass through presenting literature and many cases illustrated with clinical photos and videos.
