Abstract:

In contemporary orthodontic treatment planning, understanding the components of an aesthetically attractive smile, with an emphasis on enhancing smile aesthetics is essential to achieving patient satisfaction and for successful treatment outcome. Therefore correctly identifying factors contributing to creation of an aesthetic smile is indispensable. In this lecture, clinical examples will be shown on how smile aesthetics is analyzed in diagnosis and treatment planning, and also technological advances in AI enabling in-face visualization of the patient’s smile in digital treatment planning.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the components that contribute to creating an easthetically pleasing smile
  • Evaluate and assess these components in the diagnosis and treatment planning stages of orthodontic treatment
  • Be able to incorporate principles of smile design into treatment plans
  • Learn how digital treatment planning tools aided by artificial intelligence can facilitate more accurate treatment simulations, benefits and limitations of these technologies and their practical implementation in the dental practice
