Abstract :
This lecture aims to equip dental practitioners with essential knowledge and skills for effectively managing medical emergencies that may occur in a dental clinic setting. As dental professionals, it is crucial to recognize and respond promptly to various medical crises, including syncope, anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, respiratory distress and diabetic emergencies. The session will cover the common types of emergencies, their signs and symptoms, and the appropriate protocols for intervention. We will discuss the importance of preparation, including the creation of emergency response plans and the proper use of emergency equipment and medications. Participants will gain practical insights into effective communication, teamwork, and decision-making during emergencies. By the end of the session, attendees will feel more confident in their ability to manage medical emergencies, ensuring patient safety and enhancing the overall quality of care in their dental practice.
