FDI completes three global tobacco cessation workshops for dental and medical practitioners

Tobacco use remains one of the leading global health challenges, and health professionals have a critical role to play in ending the tobacco epidemic. In response, FDI launched its Tobacco Cessation project in 2020 to equip oral health professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to offer effective cessation advice to their patients. Over the past four years, FDI has organized a series of capacity-building workshops with its member associations.

In the first half of 2025, the project successfully supported the organization of three workshops, training a total of 189 participants. These sessions provided both information on the effects of tobacco on oral health and practical guidance, notably through the 5 As and 5 Rs frameworks.
