FDI launched a new report marking 10 years of the Oral Health Observatory (OHO) initiative, showcasing how practice-based data can strengthen oral health information systems and support evidence-based advocacy and policymaking.

The report, Ten years of Oral Health Observatory data: Evidence, Impact and the Road Ahead, showcases findings from more than 10,000 patients across 12+ countries, providing insights into oral health behaviours, disease burden, access to care, and patient-reported outcomes collected through dental clinics.

The report underscores how standardized, practice-based data can complement national oral health surveys by generating timely, clinically linked evidence that helps National Dental Associations (NDAs) advocate for improved oral health policies. It also highlights examples of how OHO data have informed policy dialogue, research, advocacy campaigns and capacity building in participating countries over the past decade.

Developed under the oversight of the FDI OHO Task Team, the report reflects the contributions of NDAs, dentists and patients who have participated in the programme since 2016.
