FDI releases French, Spanish and Japanese versions of its Oral Health for an Ageing Population Advocacy Guide
Following the successful launch of the Advocacy Guide – Promoting Oral Health for an Ageing Population at the FDI World Dental Congress 2025 (WDC25) in Shanghai, FDI is pleased to announce that the guide is now available in French, Spanish and Japanese, expanding its accessibility to a broader global audience.
Supporting healthy ageing through oral health
Originally presented during the Oral Health for an Ageing Population (OHAP) session at WDC25, the Advocacy Guide marks an important milestone in FDI’s ongoing commitment to strengthening oral health policies for ageing populations worldwide. It draws on more than a decade of research, collaboration, and global advocacy carried out through the OHAP project, a long-standing FDI initiative focused on integrating oral health into healthy ageing strategies.
The guide provides a practical framework for policymakers, dental professionals and advocates to support effective advocacy at national and international levels. Aligned with FDI’s Vision 2030, the WHO Oral Health Resolution, Strategy and Action Plan, and broader global health frameworks, the guide underlines the need for integrating oral health into universal health coverage and national health agendas.
The translated versions of the guide are now available for download on the OHAP project webpage, alongside the original English version. They form part of a broader suite of resources aimed at equipping professionals and advocates with the knowledge and tools needed to influence policy, strengthen health systems, and improve outcomes for ageing populations.
The Oral Health for an Ageing Population project is supported by GC International and the Nakao Foundation.
